Our History
Around the Sun Montessori was founded in 2005 by two friends with a passion for Montessori and a desire to create a superior learning environment not only for their own children but for the surrounding community as well. Leveraging their extensive experience in Education and Administration, Melissa Brubaker and Amy Sever opened the first Primary (Preschool) class in 2005 on the scenic grounds of First Christian Church. In 2022, Melissa Brubaker became sole Head of School and Lead Primary Teacher. By serving as both Teacher and Head of School, she has been able to maintain the integrity of the program and keep the focus on the needs of the students served by Around the Sun.
In 2020 (as a result of parent requests), Around the Sun was expanded to include a Lower and Upper Elementary Community which serves grades 1-6.
